Bells Elementary School ESL Students Take Turns Interviewing Their Favorite Teachers
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Bells Elementary School students in Mrs. Georgeann Figueroa’s English as a Second Language class put their favorite teachers under the microscope recently, as part of a fun project covering several areas of their curriculum.
The students first had to pick their favorite teacher, then come up with several interview questions that they wanted to ask those teachers to learn more about who they are. With the questions written down, they then made their way to the favorite teacher’s classroom and conducted a short interview, recorded via iPad, and finished by taking a photo of that teacher.
“We are practicing our question formations, speaking to adults, and being a good listener,” Figueroa said. “It’s a good way for them to learn being more comfortable speaking in English.”
Some of the students were a little nervous, but they had fun during the interviews, too. Once complete, Figueroa will print the photos and post the results of the interviews in the ESL classroom.
