Staff Performs to Kick off Week of Respect
Wedgwood Elementary School Students Entertained and Informed by Staff’s Performance of the Book One
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Wedgwood Elementary School teachers acted out the story to the award winning picture book One, by Kathryn Otoshi, on Monday in front of the student population to kick off the New Jersey Week of Respect (October 1-5, 2018).
One is an engaging story based on colors and numbers about “blue, a quiet color,” who gets bullied by “hot head red.” The other colors feel sorry for blue, but never stand up to red. Then “One” comes along. He tells the other colors that they count and encourages them to take a stand. They do, introducing readers to not just the power of “one,” as the book's title suggests, but more importantly to the strength of numbers and collective action.
The two Wedgwood performances included the following staff members: Kelly Abbruzzese (grade 3), Kristi White (school counselor), Emily Ehret (grade 5), Andrea Hughes (reading specialist), Melissa Dabrowski (librarian), Domenick Renzi (math specialist), Maryann Garten (grade 4), Lisa Warrington (special education), Deborah Durham (grade 2), Kristin Seymour (grade 2), Jan Sanders (special education), Leslie Mitcham (grade 2), Hope Urso, (grade 1), and Morgan Lamanna (grade 1).
