CRMS Seventh-Grade Humanities Students Participate in Model UN Virtual Field Trip
Seventh-grade humanities students in Lori Bathurst’s class at Chestnut Ridge Middle School were the recent virtual participants in the World Affairs Council’s Cultural Diplomacy Conference hosted by the Junior Model United Nations on January 13, 2022.
Produced in partnership with the Penn Museum, student-delegates explore the importance of cross-cultural understanding and diplomacy through collaborative presentations conducted by the Council and the Museum.
The World Affairs Council seeks to introduce students to the topics of international relations, current events, and diplomacy while developing their critical thinking, research, and interpersonal skills.
“The Council’s primary middle school program is our Jr. Model United Nations – Student Diplomat Program, which has given Philadelphia-area students the opportunity to step into the role of diplomats from around the world and create solutions to some of today’s most pressing global issues since the early years of our organization’s founding,” Bathurst said.
Among other topics, the students learned what makes a diplomat successful.
