Hurffville Fifth-Graders Celebrate Their 1,000th Day of School
While the first-graders around the District were marking their 100th day of school on February 9th, Hurffville Elementary School fifth-graders were celebrating an educational career that has spanned 10 times as long. To ring in their 1,000th day of school, the students in Christina Brolly’s, Theresa Colligan’s, Laura DiPietro’s and Jacki Tiger’s classes opened the day with an assortment of activities that will be displayed on a hallway banner in celebration of the momentous milestone.
The students produced personal lists for “10 things I want to do in my lifetime,” “10 positive words that can describe me,” and “my 10 favorite school memories.” In math class, they colored in decimals and fractions that were greater than one half to uncover a secret message, “Happy 1,000th Day.”
Among interesting aspirations, McKayla Mayer would like to “ride an elephant,” “have my own fashion line” and “see the Northern Lights.” Elliott Crosby included in his favorite school memories the “read-a-thon,” “the last three weeks of third grade” and the “school play.”
