An Obedient Listener
Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Readers Welcome Angel from Furever as Friends
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Young readers in Ms. Courtney Sicinski’s class at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School received a major treat on Friday, March 15th. The students were visited by Angel, a very big, very gentle, very eager listener. Angel is a black Labrador retriever, and she is part of the Furever as Friends non-profit organization that brings pet-assisted therapy to people of all ages in all settings.
Sicinski’s students quickly gravitated to Angel, who, despite her stature, is as friendly as can be. Angel sat down and welcomed the students’ pets, as well as some hair brushing, before they got down to the business of reading.
Each student in the class picked out a book to read to Angel, who obediently listened and smiled throughout her time in the classroom. Angel is almost six years old and has been working with Furever as Friends alongside owner Mitzi Kowal since she was just 18 months old. Angel’s visit was set up by TJ Reading Specialist Samantha Dulude.
