Bunker Hill Middle School Clubs Take Part in Washington Township Community Clean-Up Day
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Bunker Hill Middle School Student Council and BHMS Roots & Shoots Club volunteered their Saturday morning and afternoon to take part in the Washington Township 14th annual Community Cleanup Day at locations around the township.
The student council, along with advisor Frank Cabrera, spent their day sprucing up the area around Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, including the Altair Drive retention pond. The Roots & Shoots Club and advisor Julie Lyons cleaned up at the Washington Township Youth Football Complex on East Holly Avenue.
Community Clean-Up Day is held to heighten community awareness of litter throughout the Township. Trash bags, gloves, reflector vests, T-shirts and other needed supplies were provided, and volunteers were assigned to clean-up sites based upon the site’s needs, group capabilities and safety concerns.
