District Elementary, Middle School Musicians Perform at All-South Jersey Honors Orchestra Festival
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – On Saturday, May 5th, select District fifth- and sixth-graders performed in the All-South Jersey Elementary Honors Orchestra Festival. These students, along with many other musicians from all over southern New Jersey, were selected to participate in this honors ensemble held at Fernwood Middle school in Egg Harbor.
The students, who represented Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley middle schools, and Bells, Wedgwood, Hurffville and Whitman elementary schools, rehearsed all morning on the day of the event and then held the concert in the afternoon. Elementary strings teacher Mr. Ian Hoblitzell was one of two conductors for the event.
The students involved worked diligently to put on an outstanding show,” said District elementary strings teacher Mr. Ian Hoblitzell, who thanked fellow volunteers Toni Benecchi (CRMS) and Elizabeth Aldrich (OVMS) for their helping making the event possible.
