WTEF to Sponsor 25th Annual "Helping Hands Super Bowl Hoagie Sale"
The Washington Township Education Foundation (WTEF) will serve as the sponsor of the District’s 25th Annual Helping Hands Super Bowl Hoagie Sale that benefits local families in need. The massive hoagie sale is hosted annually on Super Bowl Sunday, this year February 3, 2019.
The WTEF will team with WTHS Students in Action and WTHS student-athletes, as well as members of the six elementary and three middle school Future Acts clubs and legions of community volunteers, in making and selling the sandwiches. All proceeds from the event will be donated to local families facing serious medical situations.
“The WTEF is proud to support the longest-running tradition in Washington Township – the Super Bowl Hoagie Sale,” WTEF president Charlie Doud said. “This event includes Washington Township folks from all walks of life and is so representative of the way our community members embrace and support efforts to help those who are struggling.”
Two-foot party hoagies – in classic Italian, turkey or cheese – are the equivalent of two hoagies and are available with or without onions for $10 each. Hoagie trays to feed parties between 10 and 12 people are available for $50. The hoagies are made with the finest quality meats and bread and are assembled fresh by volunteers – approximately 300 will arrive at 6 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday for this effort – participating in this worthwhile community service project. Hoagies can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the WTHS Ganttown Road entrance (529 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell).
With the success of last year’s event, the hoagie sale reached the $652,000 mark in all-time funds raised for those facing life-threatening illnesses and related medical costs.
In addition to individual hoagie orders, the fundraising group prepares hundreds of hoagies for area homeless that are paid for by lead sponsor Inspira Health Network, as well as through Pay It Forward Hoagies for Humanity grants.
