The squeals of delight coming from first graders at Wedgwood Elementary School actually sounded like the chirping of a flock of birds, specifically eagles. Philadelphia Eagles mascot “Swoop” elicited the boisterous response during a surprise visit that resulted from the good fortune of their classmate Kristian O’Neill. O’Neill was selected as the winning entrant in the Acme Food Markets 2018 contest “Swoop Goes to School.” O’Neill’s good fortune earned a visit by the popular guest, who swooped into Kim Crum’s classroom and was then introduced by O’Neill in the school’s other first-grade classrooms. The Eagles’ fight song and chant greeted Swoop throughout his visit.
Acme representative Lauren Prevost supplied healthy snacks - fruit and vegetable trays – to Crum’s classroom and coloring sheets of the beloved mascot to all first-graders
O’Neill entered the contest at the Acme store located at 415 Egg Harbor Road in Washington Township.

Before leaving, Swoop autographed Kim Crum’s Eagles’ banner as her students looked on.
