WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Washington Township Public Schools hosted a job hiring event in the Eileen Abbott Central Administration Building board room on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Nearly 30 staff members were on hand to assist in the District’s inaugural event, which drew several dozen prospective employees.
The District had a wide array of candidates apply to multiple positions, ranging from newly graduated professionals to those who were retired and seeking opportunities to support the community. Some applicants came to the event with a specific interest in a particular position and were able to speak with WTPS staff members to focus their job search. Others utilized the event to explore the different positions that WTPS has to offer to determine if the openings aligned with their skill sets and interests. Tables were set up highlighting available positions, including: special education teachers and assistants; substitute school nurses; food service workers; bus drivers and transportation assistants; instructional and playground assistants; and substitute custodians.
“The majority of Tuesday’s applicants were Washington Township residents, which is wonderful for both the school district and the community,” District Director of Assessment, Data, Registration and Community Outreach Katherine Carey said. “The hiring event was able to support the community by providing these opportunities for employment, and the District benefits from a varied candidate pool that weaves the community into the fabric of our schools.”
While Tuesday’s event covered positions available at the time, attendees were reminded that new positions become available often and can be tracked on the District’s website, www.wtps.org.
