WTHS Bids Farewell to 561 Graduates in the Class of 2018
As Washington Township High School Class of 2018 valedictorian Stephen Cozzone calculated, he and his 560 classmates have spent approximately 2.8 million hours collectively in the classroom. On June 19, 2018, their 2.8 million hours were up.
“We have invested in WTHS and have grown a sense of attachment, but it is time to seek something new,” he said during his commencement address.
With the backdrop of a picture-perfect day, retiring Washington Township High School Principal Ann Moore and members of her administrative team, teachers and staff, Board of Education members, invited dignitaries and Superintendent Joe Bollendorf sent the Class of 2018 off with the hope of bigger and brighter days to come. The commencement ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of the school’s 53rd graduating class before a large crowd of family and friends at Tom Brown Field, and enthusiastically pointed the graduates to the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.
Salutatorian Allison Davis urged her peers to “look up to people who do the right thing to make our ordinary lives extraordinary. Thank those people who have improved your life by interrupting theirs.”
“Live every day in the hopes of being someone’s hero,” she said. “Commit to doing your best to make the world a better place for everyone.”
