Veteran Shares Details of His Recently Declassified Mission with Bells Elementary Students
United States Air Force veteran Tom Brown, father of Bells Elementary School special education teacher Michelle Richie, provided a personalized Veterans Day message to Richie’s and Kelly DeLizza’s fourth-grade students during a classroom visit on November 13th.
Brown shared details of his fascinating, clandestine mission as a security officer during the end of the Vietnam War and the Cold War, when he was stationed on the Russian border. In these classified assignments, Brown was charged with collecting information on the Russian military, their weapons, planes and patterns. His identity was kept secret, as the Russians had a bounty out on all security officers.
