Washington Township Middle School Idol Contest Slated for January 21st at OVMS
Twenty-seven singers and would-be pop stars from Bunker Hill, Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley middle schools will be competing in the Annual Washington Township Middle School Idol contest on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 7 p.m. at Orchard Valley Middle School. The contest, hosted by the OVMS Drama Club and Panther Pride Club, is under the direction of OVMS teachers Alyssa Campanini (chorus), Amy Leso (drama) and Kelly Walz (special education) and Washington Township High School teacher and choral director Joe Zachowski.
Washington Township High School students Victoria Mendoza and Ava Scott (WTHS Choral Presidents) will serve as hosts for the evening. Annabelle Corigliano, the winner of the 2020 Washington Township Middle School Idol Contest, will present the awards to the new winners.
Each contestant submitted an audition video in early January for the chance to represent their grade and school in the finals. The contestants will sing a pop song of their choice for a panel of distinguished judges assembled from around Gloucester County. The winner from each grade level will compete in the overall finals at the end of the show to determine the winner of the title of 2022 Washington Township Middle School Idol.
The contest winner will be invited to perform a solo at the 2022 WTHS Pops Concert, “Reflections,” on February 10, 2022, at the Investors Bank Performing Arts Center.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
