WTHS Graduation Gowns to Move to One Color
Washington Township High School principal Jonathan Strout, upon the recommendation of the school improvement committee and with the approval of the Board of Education, will unveil a new school tradition when graduates, both male and female, in the Class of 2020 sport royal blue-colored gowns. WTHS graduation ceremonies in the past through 2019 saw males wear navy blue caps and gowns and females wear white caps and gowns.
“Our school improvement committee, which is open to all staff members interested in sharing their voice on topics of interest, felt strongly that this change would offer a more equitable graduation experience for students and families,” Strout said. “We believe this new tradition will help is in our ongoing efforts to remove potential barriers that exist for many of our students, and we are confident that our school and community will welcome this change.”
