WTHS African American Culture Club Plans 7th Annual Black History Month Dinner Theater
The Washington Township High School African American Culture Club will host its 7th Annual; Black History Month Dinner Theater on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. in Cafeteria C/D. The theme of this year’s event is “Harlem Renaissance.”
The Harlem Renaissance was the development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City as a black cultural mecca in the early 20th Century and the subsequent social and artistic explosion that resulted. Lasting roughly from the 1910s through the mid-1930s, the period is considered a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance and art.
The evening will include dinner and entertainment by club members, as well as music by the WTHS Jazz Band, under the direction of Frank Appello.
Non-refundable tickets are $10 ($5 for children 6 and under) and must be purchased in advance. Doors open at 6 p.m., and guests are invited to dress in their best Harlem Renaissance attire as part of the celebration of Black history and culture.
