Washington Township High School Counselor Karin Eckert-Carpenter has been selected as the Gloucester County Professional Counselors Association (GCPCA) School 2020-21 Counselor of the Year. She will be further recognized by the New Jersey School Counselor Association (NJSCA) in the spring.
Honored as the District’s 2019-20 Secondary Educational Services Professional of the Year, Eckert-Carpenter has spent 37 of her 38 years in education in the Washington Township Public Schools. “Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter is an outstanding high school counselor and an excellent role model for her students and colleagues,” Director of District School Counseling Jennifer Grimaldi said. “She has shown leadership abilities by taking initiative at the high school and on the county level, as well. She is a constant learner in the field of school counseling and tries to find creative ways to assist the school community. We are lucky to have her as part of our WTPS counseling team.”
“Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter has been a leader among our staff for decades at WTHS,” principal Jonathan Strout said. “She has never waivered in her commitment to put all students first, and she advocates for all of our students not just with words, but with her actions every day. No issue is too small for Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter to tackle, and her dedication to our kids and school has especially shined through over the last year, as we’ve all battled through this pandemic. We are so grateful and proud to have Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter representing our school.”
