BHMS Travel Around World

The seventh-grade students at Bunker Hill Middle School provided a world-wide welcome to more than 300 people on March 15th, inviting attendees to travel around the world with them.

English and Spanish classes, under the supervision and support of Shannon Enders, Mary Grace Parchesky, Charles Rojas and Spanish teacher Clarissa Marin-Mojica, collaborated to create displays on various countries, and families were able have a tasting of traditional foods from around the world. Students Ella Pestritto and Courtney Waddington started the evening off with the singing of the United States and Puerto Rican national anthems. Guests were able to see a performance from the Dance Team (Claudia Manuella) and listen to live music from the band (Candy Maxwell) and orchestra (Mark Przybylowski).  The evening finished with Flamenco Dancing with Ms. Marin, Ms. Korff, and students Serena Estebal and Ava Sadowski.

“Ms. Marin devoted class time to continuing the research and discussing the culture of all the Spanish speaking countries,” Enders said. “Ms. Marin also spent a great deal of time working with students to come up with posters and flags, thanks to the donations of materials from art teachers Mike Murro and Bethany Franz, to represent all three languages French, German, and Spanish) that the students study in Middle School. Working together, we were able to help students create their well-researched presentations. It was a wonderful experience to share with families, teachers and administration."
