WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Students in Mr. Dale Biebel's Graphic Design 2 class at Washington Township High School recently finished a LifeStyle Clothing Brand Project. This month-long project began with two of his former students (Caleb Weidner – Forty Six Ten Apparel Co. and Andrew Jackson – The Deli Collective) who own lifestyle clothing companies visiting the class and discussing graphic design, marketing, and the demographics of their brands.
After his visit to the class, Andrew Jackson decided he wanted to get more involved. He said he would donate $500 to have the winner’s design professionally printed. This definitely gave the students some extra motivation to do well on their project.
Soon after, the students began researching and developing their own brand ideas. Students developed concepts for a variety of different concepts, including people who love to travel, cat lovers, insect lovers, and outdoors and nature enthusiasts. The project culminated in students presenting their concepts to the class and voting on the most viable concepts.
After narrowing down the six best concepts as a class, Jackson came back to review the presentations with Mr. Biebel. Jackson eventually chose Kira Neild as the winner. He printed more than 50 T-shirts and hoodies to help make her concept come to life.
Kira created a brand called “Deerly.” Her brand’s mission – “We believe we should love the world deerly. With our products, we aim to provide comfort to you and our wildlife friends while also promoting mental health. All materials are sustainable and recycled, actively keeping manmade objects out of the homes of wildlife and ensuring a cleaner, greener Earth. Through loving and caring for nature, we believe we can positively impact not only the planet but ourselves, too.”
“I want to congratulate Kira for her amazing work on this project,” Mr. Biebel said. “I would also like to thank Andrew Jackson for his time and donation to this project!”
