Bunker Hill Middle School Art Club members pose in front of the mural they designed, painted and detailed in the entry hallway of Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Bunker Hill Middle School Art Club, in a partnership with Mrs. Christina Cox and Mrs. Jessica Rose at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center, was granted with the fantastic opportunity to work together to revive a “Grenloch Garden” mural project, allowing students and visitors to GTECC to get a true vision of the school’s philosophy: to be in a place where you plant your seed as a student in the Washington Township school district, and to grow into a well-rounded citizen, willing to give back and provide what you've learned in service to others and the community.
Collectively, the BHMS Art Club was able to meticulously plan, paint, and detail an updated mural, presented on four large canvas panels, in order to maneuver around some of the permanent fixtures on GTECC's main entrance walls. Once all four canvases were mounted, you could see the entire scene that was planned out by the Art Club students, literally, come to life on the wall.
Every school and age group in the Washington Township Public Schools was represented, showing GTECC as the starting point, but also the unity and collaboration among all of our schools here in Washington Township. It is a theme the BHMS Art Club hopes continues for future public art and installations.
Acting Superintendent of Schools Annette Miller, Director of Registration/Technology/Community Outreach Mike D'Ostilio, BHMS Principal Allsion Egizi, and Visual/Performing Arts Department Supervisor Casey Corigliano were in attendance Monday morning, May 5, 2025, to help dedicate and support the mural installation.
“It's always reassuring to see the bigger kids committing to not only service projects that promote the arts, but also ones that also set a wonderful example of how to use your skills to pay it forward to the next generation of students,” Corigliano said.
The BHMS Art Club was beyond proud to see the final stages of their year-long effort finally hung in the halls of GTECC for everyone to enjoy, and look forward to even more public mural projects within the district to come.
GTECC thanked the BHMS Art Club for their spectacular efforts!
