District FutureActs Clubs Share Out Donated Halloween Candy
It can be difficult for children to part with Halloween candy, but the FutureActs Club from Bunker Hill, Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley Middle Schools encouraged their peers and younger students at all the District Elementary Schools to do just that. During the first week of November and with the slogan “Do Something Sweet After Saying Trick-or-Treat,” the middle schoolers worked collaboratively to collect hundreds of pounds of candy.
After the candy was collected, the elementary and middle school FutureActs clubs sorted and bagged the collected candy, creating kindness cards and notes to include in the bags.
Operation Gratitude matched the FutureActs Clubs with the Philadelphia Police Department, and candy was delivered to the officers. Additional candy was delivered to the Unforgotten Haven for their homeless outreach and to the Cardinal Village Senior Center in Washington Township.
