Bunker Hill Middle School French Classes Celebrate Feast of St. Nicolas, the Patron Saint of Children.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Bunker Hill Middle School French students in Madame Kiki Pecheux’s classes celebrated le Saint Nicolas during class on Friday, December 6 – the feast day for Nicolas, patron saint of children.
The students made paper shoes, received special treats and sang traditional French songs during the celebration.
In European tradition, on the nights leading up to St. Nicolas Day, children leave their shoes in front of the fireplace or front door, and they are filled with gifts by the next morning.
Madame Pecheux passes out bonbons to eighth-graders Kylee Maccherone and Ava Gulli.
