Dr. Steve Gregor Shares Details of District’s Equity Journey with Members of the Gloucester and Camden County School Board Associations
District Equity Officer and Director of Secondary Education for the Washington Township Public Schools Dr. Steve Gregor was one of two presenters at the Equity in Action New Jersey meeting hosted by the Gloucester and Camden County School Board Associations on January 23, 2020, at Auletto’s Restaurant. Washington Township Board of Education members Renée Pollard and Candice Zachowski were among attendees.
In his presentation, Dr. Gregor shared details of the District’s ongoing equity journey and strategies for combatting implicit bias in the classroom.
Dr. Gregor was joined by Dr. Shelley Zion, professor and Executive Director of the Center for Access, Success, and Equity (CASE) at Rowan University. Dr. Zion, along with her colleague Dan Tulino, is assisting the District in an internal equity audit of policies, procedures, curriculum, communication, student achievement and other areas.
“Conversations about equity, particular about long-standing biases, are often uncomfortable but always necessary,” Dr. Gregor said. “Our District is committed to dialoguing about the findings of our self-evaluation and to sharing successes that are helping us bring true parity to every child in every classroom.”
