About Our School
Wedgwood School first opened in September 1970. At that time, students from seventh and eighth grades attended alongside the first, second, and third graders from the Wedgwood section of the township. Fourth through sixth graders attended the original Grenloch School.
Mr. Joseph Indriso was the first principal of Wedgwood School. He had a small office in the Wedgwood building, but his main office was at Grenloch. Wedgwood’s Kindergarten students attended classes in the local churches with Mr. Harold Talley as their principal.
In 1971, Wedgwood became a Middle School with Mr. Indriso as the first principal. In 1972 the Middle School students moved to their new building (currently the 9-10 wing of the High School) and Mr. Talley became the new principal of the Wedgwood K-6 building.
Today Wedgwood School serves students in grades one through five.
In March of 1996, Wedgwood School opened its new addition, adding to the school's capacity and the variety of programs offered. The new section included eight full size classrooms, ten small group instruction rooms, a state-of-the-art networked computer room, art room, music room and gym. Two special rooms in our school are the Harold Talley Library, named after the first Wedgwood principal, and the Carl Pra, Jr. Computer Lab, named after a much loved former sixth grade teacher.
Wedgwood Elementary School is an exciting place in which to learn and grow! We are committed to providing our students with an exceptional learning environment and we are dedicated to helping all students to reach their individual potential in nurturing, supportive classrooms.
The enrollment at Wedgwood School is approximately 480 students with class sizes ranging from 18 to 24 students.
We currently have four classes of second, third, fourth, and fifth graders; five classes of first graders; and two self-contained special needs classrooms.
We have a teaching staff of 50+, a building Principal, a Supervisor of Elementary Education, a full time nurse and guidance counselor, and a support staff of 30 who assist with our school programs on a part-time and full-time basis.
