Sweet Fundraiser Honors Memory of a Sweet Girl

pretzel Homemade and hand-decorated chocolate-covered pretzels, called “Colettezels,” will be created and sold by members of the Bunker Hill, Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley Middle School FutureActs Clubs in support of the Colette W. Bleistine Paying It Forward Foundation (CWBPIFF).  The sweet fundraiser honors the memory of 2007 Washington Township High School graduate Colette Bleistine, who passed away from cystic fibrosis in 2012 at the age of 22. Bleistine herself coined the name “Colettezels” for the homemade treats she used to create.

CWBPIFF supports the Washington Township community by offering scholarships to WTHS seniors who have a passion for community service, assisting band members in need of financial assistance for trips and/or band camps, and supporting the Helping Hands Hoagie Sale which provides financial assistance to members of the Washington Township community who are suffering from serious medical conditions.

“Just in time for Mother’s Day, this fundraiser will honor Colette and will teach our students, who will be making, decorating and packaging these delicious treats, the importance of paying it forward to help make the world a better place,” said CRMS teacher and project coordinator Kim Hinrichs. “We are proud to be helping the CWBPIFF continue Colette’s legacy of kindness and giving.”

Orders for the box assortments of milk-and dark-chocolate-covered pretzels are being accepted until Friday, May 3rd. A small order of “Colettezels” (five chocolate-covered pretzels) are available for $5. A large order of 10 “Colettezels” are $10. All checks should be made payable to Chestnut Ridge Middle School. Orders will be shipped to individual schools.  Outside orders will require patrons to pick up their orders on Wednesday, May 8th from 3-4 p.m. at Chestnut Ridge Middle School.
