Washington Township Board of Education Reorganizes, Welcomes New Members at First Meeting of 2025

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Washington Township Board of Education welcomed four members during a swearing in on January 7, 2025, at the Board’s annual reorganization meeting. State Senator Paul Moriarty presided over the swearing in. Community members Steven Serrano, Linda Hartong, and Elayne Clancy were appointed to three-year terms. Julie Kozempel was elected to complete a one-year term.
Serrano returns to the Board having won election as an incumbent candidate in November. Clancy and Kozempel were previous BOE members and return to their posts for new terms. Hartong is a first-time BOE member.
During the reorganization meeting, the Board voted Kozempel to the role of Board President and Serrano as Vice President. The rest of the Board includes: Clancy, Hartong, Connie Baker, Patricia Blome, Carol Chila, Scott Laliberte, and Ralph Ross Sr.
