WTHS Senior Football Standout Zach Andrews Honored
Washington Township High School senior football standout Zach Andrews has been named the September 2019 Student-Athlete of the Month. The award is given monthly to a student-athlete who embodies selfless play, a commitment to his/her team, promotes team unity and positively influences team culture, both academically and athletically.
A senior captain and two-way starter for the Minutemen, Andrews earned All-Conference accolades as a junior from his defensive end position. Academically, he is among the top students in his class, scoring a 1520 on his SATs and maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
“Our school’s partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance has helped to produce an athletic culture of ‘Honoring the Game’, encouraging athletes to respect all aspects of their sport,” WTHS athletic director Kevin Murphy said. “Zach has developed into a leader in our football program, He been a key contributor during the football program’s rebuilding process. His gifts in the classroom and on the field make him the embodiment of a true student-athlete, and he is very deserving of his honor and recognition.”
“Zach’s off to a great start in his senior year,” WTHS head football coach Mike Schatzman said. “He’s a great teammate who possesses all the great qualities you look for in a student-athlete. He’s hard-working, not only in the weight room and on the field, but also in the classroom. He continues to challenge himself academically and pushes to become the best he can be.”
WTHS, athletic director Kevin Murphy recognized Zach Andrews as the school’s September Student-Athlete of the Month.
