Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center Kindergarten Class Gets Lesson on Diwali from Classmate’s Family
The Manglani family gave a presentation on the holiday of Diwali to students in Mrs. Sandy Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Karin Mickelson’s kindergarten class at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center students in Mrs. Sandy Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Karin Mickelson’s kindergarten class learned about a holiday that they probably hadn’t heard of before thanks to the graciousness of their classmate’s parents.
On Friday, October 25th, kindergartener Armaan Manglani brought his parents, Mohit and Sarita Manglani, to school to talk about the five-day festival that marks the start of the Hindu New Year. During Diwali, families decorate their homes with lights and diyas (oil lamps). Diwali honors the Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, and is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil.
The Manglani family did a PowerPoint presentation explaining the holiday, helped the students do a sand art craft, and provided a beautiful fruit treat for the class.
Mohit Manglani goes over a PowerPoint presentation about Diwali with the GTECC kindergarten students.
