WTHS Graphic Design Students Recreate Instagram Pages for Local Businesses



As COVID restrictions increasingly were lifted and local businesses relaunched, Washington Township High School teacher Dale Biebel seized the moment for his digital deisgn students to gain real-world graphic design experience.


“Many local businesses do not have graphic designers on staff, and a new job industry of social media management is becoming popular,” Biebel said.  “With this in mind, I had students chose a local business and redesign that business’ Instagram page.  Many people look at Instagram as a modern-day rolodex.   Having organized information, professional graphics and layout, helps to increase your following and business traffic.”


As part of the project, students were tasked with designing three templates for their chosen business. The templates needed to be visually appealing but also versatile enough that a business could recycle the templates. 


Once completed, students had the option to upload their template to Canva, which gives businesses access to the templates for daily use.




A reimagined Instagram advertisement for Tomasso’s Barber Shop was designed by junior Hermiebryan Binas.
