WTHS to Stage Musical Comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”

The Washington Township High School Way Off Broadway Players will give the community much needed laughter and music when they present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on May 12-15, 2021.  In accordance with State COVID guidelines, the production will be staged for a socially distanced audience in The Playhouse of the school’s 11/12 wing at 7:30 p.m. each evening.


Cast members and their families will have access to reserved seating beginning next week. A limited number of seats will be available per performance and may be purchased (cash only) at the WTHS Playhouse one hour before each show.  Tickets are $10.


“We are thrilled to be able to bring a live production to our school and community,” said WTHS drama teacher and director Abby Molotsky. “We look forward to giving our students a true theater experience and to showcasing their exuberance, excitement and yes, talents.”


The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a musical comedy, centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups. The 2005 Broadway production won two Tony Awards.


The WTHS cast includes: Emily Cozzone, Ava Troxel, Sabrina Sims, Kylie Bittner, Xander Jackson, Kathryn Kim, Dan Hillig, Olivia Day, PJ Miccichi, Eddie Mulvihill, Ryan Crowley, Katie Murphy, Talia Morrison, Lainey Palmer, Kat Gee, Mia Pagliarini, John Ecker, Arianna Nelli, Angelina Chila, Laura Buell, Emily Schwartz, Olivia Amato and Abby Dzierzgowski.
