Wedgwood Elementary Celebrates Record-Setting Year in First in Math Online Program
Ice cream and pretzels all around! The math scholars at Wedgwood Elementary School recently celebrated their record-setting success in the First in Math online program, and all students who earned Grand Champion status were treated to Mister Softee ice cream and soft pretzels courtesy of the school’s PTO.
Wedgwood students in grades k-5 have solved over 13.2 million math problems this school year, securing first place in the State of New Jersey and third place nationally. Wedgwood School also has celebrated more than 210 Grand Champions. In order to earn Grand Champion status, a student must solve more than 30,000 math problems to earn 10,000+ stickers.

First in Math was designed with focus, coherence, and rigor as its cornerstones. Self-paced activities target mastery of procedural skills and fluencies that are essential for internalizing and demonstrating conceptual understanding in mathematics. Students earn stickers for problems solved correctly.
