WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Bunker Hill Middle School Team Up program held its annual Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, November 22, 2024. BHMS students and their “buddies” gathered together and enjoyed a great meal and time together. In addition to the social gathering and meal, the students created feathers for their Gratefulness Turkey, played games, and used props to take photos together.

Team Up offers opportunities for students to work on cooperative learning and social skills activities. At the beginning of each year, the BHMS counselors and eighth-grade teachers provide a list of 20 students who they feel would be great advocates and peer mentors to take part in the program.

Team Up hosts many special events throughout the year like Friday’s Feast, the Buddy Walk for World Down Syndrome Day, Autism Acceptance Month activities, and an End-of-the-Year Field Day with students using the life skills they learn in class to generalize across many different settings.

“Team Up is something we feel passionate about at the middle school level and benefits all of our students at Bunker Hill,” BHMS teacher Taryn Homolash said.
