The Constitution is in Play for OVMS Social Studies Students
Who says the Constitution can’t be fun? In celebration of Constitution Day on September 17thand leading up to Election Day on November 3rd, Orchard Valley Middle School students in Dan Cheeseman’s classes are engaging in a series of interactive games onwww.icivics.org.
The games include “Cast Your Vote’” “Do I Have a Right?”, “Win the White House,” and “Represent Me.”
“Thegames are designed to promote civic literacy in our country,” Cheeseman said. “Topics like informing yourself on issues before voting or how the branches of government work together, or how county, state, and national governments are run. The students can choose of which game they want. My students seem to like it, and then we can spend time reflecting on what they are learning.”
