Socks and Sheet Cake. Students in Katie Sach’s class at Washington Township High School sported and sold colorful, mismatched socks during their “Rock Your Socks” event on World Down Syndrome Awareness Day on March 21st. The date, 3-21, represents Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down syndrome, which is the third replication of the 21st chromosome. The students and staff also distributed sheet cake as part of a school-wide celebration to remind people that, though those with Down Syndrome are different, they are still beautiful, wonderful and colorful.
