WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Washington Township High School athletics administrative assistant Sandy Pfizenmayer has been honored by the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey (DAANJ) as its Administrative Assistant of the Year (South Jersey Section) Award winner.
WTHS Director of Athletics Kevin Murphy was informed by the DAANJ Executive Committee Awards Chairperson, Mr. Joseph Piro (Director of Athletics at Nutley High School) of Mrs. Pfizenamyer's selection. The award presented annually at the DAANJ State Conference is based on nominations from member school directors of athletics and then selected by the awards committee.
Mrs. Pfizenamyer has been selected for this impressive state recognition based on her outstanding service to the entire school community. She has continued to serve our student-athletes, coaches, and families, creating a championship culture for more than a decade.
“Sandy Pfizenmayer is to be commended for her selfless service to our WTHS community and department of athletics for the past thirteen years,” Murphy said. “Sandy is the MVP of Township athletics. In the true spirit of ‘Together With Pride,’ she cares for more than 1,200 student-athletes each school year, as she would her own family.
Mrs. Pfizenmayer joins former WTHS athletic department administrative assistant Mrs. Joan Durkin (2012 award winner) in making Washington Township the first school in New Jersey to have received this prestigious award twice.
Mrs. Pfizenmayer will be honored at the 2025 DAANJ Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlantic City.
