Washington Township High School Hosts Academic Career Academy Kickoff Meeting
For Immediate Release
December 9, 2024
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Washington Township High School hosted its Career Academy Kickoff Meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, celebrating the outstanding students participating in this enriching program. More than 250 students are enrolled in academies this year, including: Air Force JROTC; Business Administration and Finance; Culinary Creations; Early Childhood Education; Engineering (STEM); Marketing and Marketing Management; TV Production and Broadcast Journalism; and Visual and Performing Arts.
WTPS offers students tracks based on their interests and aspirations, and the students, in turn, shared their visions and expectations about being part of the academies, what they are most looking forward to, and why they elected to be part of an academy.
Some of the advantages WTHS academy students can enjoy include:
- An agency to work every day through their strengths and passions
- Career pathways and real world experience gained through the academies can drive student success now and in the future.
- Industry credentials and college credits can be earned through the academies, giving students a head start and early leadership within their chosen career pathway.
- Students have the possibility of earning an associates’ degree upon completion of high school based on the number of dual credit classes available through the academies.
- The cross-pollination of the academies can lend to even more opportunities and experience, for example: Journalism/Theatre for a potential theatre critic; or Pottery Art/Culinary for a material designer of a cafe.
