The New Jersey Dental Association, in conjunction with the American Dental Association, Colgate-Palmolive, Delta Dental and other companies, promotes a free day of dental care annually in February.

GIVE KIDS A SMILE! provides access to dental care to children ages 12 and younger who might otherwise not be able to afford treatment.

In the coming weeks and months GKAS will be contacting your school through the nurses' office, to disseminate information on how children in need in your school can receive treatment. THERE IS NO COST TO THE SCHOOL OR THE FAMILY.

Treatment provided includes examinations, cleaning, fluoride and sealants, fillings, extractions and crowns as needed. GKAS also provides oral healthcare education for the child and parent/guardian in a fun-filled atmosphere.

PLEASE ask your school nurse to share the GKAS information when he or she receives it later this month. A comprehensive list of participating locations, as well as forms in English and Spanish will be provided.

If you have any questions about how to help your students take advantage of this free program, please feel free to contact coordinators at the New Jersey Dental Association. Contact information is provided below.
