  • There is a federal policy that regulates what the children can have for school snacks and celebrations. This is an effort to reduce childhood obesity and the associated health problems these children can develop. The following foods are not permitted to be sent in for school parties or celebrations: soda, water ice, chewing gum, hard candy, jellies and gums, marshmallow candies, fondants(candy corn and soft mints), licorice, spun candy and candy coated popcorn.
