WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Recently, the Washington Township Public Schools’ elementary schools celebrated Wellness Week with a healthy rainbow of fruits and vegetables.
The kitchen staff in each K-5 school – Bells, Birches, Hurffville, Thomas Jefferson, Wedgwood, and Whitman – decorated their kitchens with beautiful displays of rainbows and signs that taught the students that they can “Eat a Rainbow” every day by filling their trays with colorful fruits and vegetables. Each kitchen also displayed the fruits and vegetables offered daily into a prismatic delicacy. Additionally, the students took part in Rainbow BINGO by marking all the fruits and veggies they ate that week.
“Thank you to our elementary school food service workers for going all out and teaching our students that rainbows are all around us each day, they just have to simply look at their school lunch trays,” Food Services Manager Jennifer Mullin said.
