Talented and Gifted (TAG)
Grade 3 Enrichment (GTE)Talented and Gifted (TAG) is a pull-out program for students in grades four and five. Students are selected through standardized tests of achievement, a creativity test, and a teacher rating scale. Classes are conducted once a week for a minimum of 80 minutes. The units that are covered provide enrichment in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and/or Literary. The program addresses the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards at an advanced level and focuses on creative problem solving, research, critical thinking skills, communication skills, and leadership skills within a highly engaging format.
Grade Three Enrichment (GTE) is also a pull-out program and is designed for third graders, of course. The same criteria, as described above, are used for selection. Identified students participate in weekly classes that emphasize the “Five Traits of Competent Kids” and cultivate the students’ unique abilities to think critically and creatively.
