District Raises $2,000
Washington Township Schools Lead Way in Fundraiser to Benefit Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Baseball Event
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Mainland Regional High School recently hosted the Eighth annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic baseball event. The Washington Township High School baseball team dropped its game to Jackson Liberty on April 28th, but the event was about more than just wins and losses.
Each of the 18 participating schools were asked to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in the run-up to the event. Thanks to a District-wide dress-down day fundraiser, Washington Township raised $2,000 – or almost $1,000 more than any other school.
“The staff of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic would like to extend a massive thank you to the Washington Township School District for their generosity and participation in our event,” said tournament director and Mainland Regional assistant coach Mike Edwards. “Not only does Washington Township put an outstanding product on the baseball field each year, but having the entire district join the fight and bring awareness to this cause is special to us.”
