It was a proud moment when District visual and performing arts supervisor Casey Corigliano took the baton from director Dr. Lauren Reynolds of the nationally renowned University of Delaware Wind Ensemble (UDWE) on Thursday, February 20, 2020.  Before an audience of middle school and high school band students at the Washington Township High School Investors Bank Performing Arts Center, Corigliano stepped in front of his alma mater’s ensemble to direct them in a powerful performance.

As part of a tour designed in preparation for its performance at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Conference in Philadelphia February 21-22, 2020, the UDWE offered several performances, while also welcoming the WTHS wind ensemble for several songs.

“Today was a very unique opportunity to show our middle school and high school musicians that their musicianship continually grows and that levels of music keep increasing,” Corigliano said.  “Our visitors from the University of Delaware even showcased some specialized instruments that many of our students have never seen or heard performed before today. This visit gave our older students a tremendous performance opportunity and allowed everyone in the audience to hear an advanced and remarkable blend of sounds presented at a very high level.  We were so grateful for the experience.”
