District Plans Activities for School Violence Awareness and Red Ribbon Week October 19-23
The Washington Township Public Schools have planned a number of activities in commemoration of School Violence Awareness and Red Ribbon Week October 19-23, 2020. The events are designed to promote the protection of students from violence, exposure to weapons or threats, theft, bullying, and illegal substances. The week also is organized to promote safe and supportive school climates and to support activities to prevent school violence, provide conflict resolution, bullying prevention and address issues of student diversity and tolerance.
Grades P-5 school counselors and Grades 6-12 student assistance coordinators have designed activities for the week to promote a safe and supportive climate.
“Our District’s Building Better People initiative is the conduit to encourage a climate free of violence and substances,” District Director of School Counseling Jennifer Grimaldi said. “Our core social emotional learning competencies keep our students focused on positivity, kindness and empathy in their lives.”
