For Immediate Release
April 12, 2024
Courtney Schoettle from Gloucester County Special Services gives her presentation on deaf awareness to Chestnut Ridge Middle School sixth-graders.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Chestnut Ridge Middle School sixth-graders learned all about Deaf Awareness Month thanks to a dynamic and informative visit from Courtney Schoettle from Gloucester County Special Services.
Schoettle gave a presentation about deaf awareness and taught the students sign language, including the alphabet and some common words. Students also watched "The Miracle Worker," which is the story of Helen Keller. It was very informative and a great way to ease back after spring break.
CRMS sixth-graders learn a little sign language during the presentation.
