For Immediate Release
September 27, 2024
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – September 26th is National Johnny Appleseed Day, but some Washington Township preschool and kindergarten teachers have been celebrating with different apple-themed activities all week long.
Emily Griffith’s preschool class colored and painted with apples; Justine Anderson’s preschoolers worked on identifying apple colors and following directions; and Barbara Cona’s Whitman Elementary School kindergarten class made an apple graph!.
Jennifer Kerrigan created apple sensory bins where her preschoolers were able to sort different colored apples or put the apples in number order. Angela Otto’s Pre-K class read fun stories, made cute hats, and even made their own applesauce!
Preschool teacher Brittany Walton’s “Apple Day Friday” included getting to taste all different types of foods made with apples! Miss Michille/Victoria Brown's Kindle Pre-K class also tasted different apples and had apple donut slices with toppings for snacks. They also did an Apple Project, picking an Apple from a bag and then coloring the color they received.
So many fun learning experiences all inspired by a simple apple!
