Mr. Jeffrey Snyder

The Washington Township Board of Education approved the appointment of Jeffrey Snyder as the District's social studies department supervisor (grades 6-12) , business education supervisor (grades 9-12), and secondary gifted education (grades 6-12) starting on June 16, 2017. Mr. Snyder was a social studies teacher at Orchard Valley Middle School from 2003-2017 and the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2012.

Jeffrey Snyder is responsible for oversight of the social studies curriculum in grades 6-12, including studies in U.S. History, World History, Geography, Economics and Financial Literacy. He is also responsible for the oversight of the Grades 9-12 Buisiness Department which includes Accounting, Business, and Marketing classes. He will work directly with approximately 46 teachers and conduct classroom evaluations to direct and improve the effective articulation of the curriculum across all levels, infusing technology, managing the budget and mentoring staff. He will be responsible for the evaluation of student achievement and assessments, and the proper placement of students in assigned areas of study. Snyder also will oversee the implementation of curricular programs and supervision of the District’s 6-12 gifted education program.


At OVMS (2003-2017), Snyder taught humanities, civics, United States history, world history, world cultures and geography. In the humanities program, he delivered instruction to the school’s gifted and talented population and incorporated programs including the National Current Events League, Model United Nationals, and the New Jersey Mock Trial Competition. Snyder has served as a Marzano mentor teacher and presenter, an Olweus bullying prevention facilitator and a member of the middle school scheduling committee.

In his capacity as an eighth-grade advisor, Snyder has organized fundraisers, dances, the student-staff basketball game, the annual trip to Hersheypark and the school’s graduation ceremony. He has served as a team leader since 2012. Snyder served as intramural girls and boys indoor soccer coach, intramural girls and boys basketball coach and WTHS junior varsity boys and girls tennis coach.

Snyder holds a bachelor of arts degree in history with minors in elementary and secondary education, childhood studies from Rutgers University (2003). He earned a master degree in school leadership in 2012 from Wilmington University. Snyder holds New Jersey principal and supervisor certifications.
