Terms to Know ...

  • Complainant: Any individual who is alleged to be the victim of bullying, harassment, or discrimination.

    Respondent: Any individual who is alleged to be the perpetrator of bullying, harassment or discrimination.

    Title IX Sexual Harassment: any instance of quid pro quo harassment by a school’s employee; any unwelcome conduct that a reasonable person would find so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it denies a person equal educational access; any instance of sexual assault (as defined in the Clery Act), dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking as defined in the Violence Against Women Act (VA WA).

    Sexual Misconduct: Unwelcome conduct on the basis of sex that does not meet the definition of Title IX sexual harassment as defined above.
