Equity Council Meetings
- A full Equity Council meeting will be held once per quarter. Subcommittees will meet in between Equity Council meetings to complete their work and report back at quarterly meetings.
- Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the Office of DEIB.
- There will be a standing agenda for each meeting to include, at a minimum, reports from the subcommittees, next steps/action items, and opportunity for comment from members of the community.
- Agendas, minutes, and a calendar of upcoming meetings will be posted on the School District website under the DEIB Equity Council tab.
- Ideally, recommendations of the Equity Council will be reached by consensus, but if reaching consensus is not possible on specific issues, a vote may be called. To learn about consensus decision-making, visit Seeds for Change.
- Decision-making by consensus or vote shall be conducted at quarterly Equity Council meetings. Members must be in attendance, either in person or virtually, to vote on any item.
- Recommendations reached by consensus or vote shall then be presented to the appropriate administrator by the Equity Council Co-chairs or designee(s).
- On an annual basis, a maximum of three members of the Equity Council will be chosen by the Council as a whole to serve as co-chairs of the group charged with scheduling and leading full equity council meetings for that calendar year, developing the agenda for each meeting, and meeting periodically with the Superintendent and Superintendent’s Council.
- On an annual basis, a member of the Equity Council will be chosen by the Council to take and disseminate notes of the quarterly meetings for that calendar year.
- The Director of the WTPS Office of DEIB will serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Education. On an as-needed basis, members of the Equity Council may be asked to attend Board of Education meetings to lead or support presentations, or advocate, on behalf of the Equity Council.
