Mrs. Janine Ryan
Janine Ryan was appointed Elementary Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction in March 2021, following a two-year stint as Elementary Supervisor and District Basic Skills Coordinator K-8. In her current role, she is a part of the leadership team at Bells and TJ Elementary Schools, where she assists principals with hiring and conducting classroom observations and teacher evaluations. She plays a critical role in monitoring students’ educational progress and actively works with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards. As part of the curriculum team, Mrs. Ryan works collaboratively to provide programmatic support and professional development with the goal of improving student achievement for all learners. In addition, Mrs. Ryan provides leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of the NJ Tiered System of Supports approach in math, as well as coordinates the placement and programming for Basic Skills Math Instruction in K-5.
A 20-year veteran teacher, Ryan arrived in Washington Township in 2012 from Maryland, where she served as a teacher leader and instructional coach since 1997. During her tenure with WTPS, she served as a classroom teacher at Birches Elementary School, the 2015-16 Teacher of the Year, and an active member of a myriad of curricular committees. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Towson University (1997), a Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from Notre Dame of Maryland University (2017) and an Administration/Supervision Certificate from Johns Hopkins University (2016).
As an advocate for educators, students, and their families, Mrs. Ryan has tremendous passion for teaching and learning and is deeply committed to seeing all students engaged in the learning process. She is honored to be a part of Washington Township Public Schools.
