• 2017-18 Points of Pride

     

    • The Washington Township School District was recognized by the Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem County School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSSDJIF) as the 2017-18 Safety District of the Year for its active role in ensuring the safety of its students and staff through critical risk management decisions that limit losses and preserve critical funds needed for the quality operation and success of its schools.  The recognition included a $4,500 award.

     

    • Washington Township High School received certification as a New Jersey Future Ready School for its efforts in transforming instructional practices and leveraging technology to personalize learning in the classroom. The certification was granted based on excellence in eight areas: (1) curriculum, instruction and assessment; (2) personalized professional learning; (3) robust infrastructure; (4) budget and resources; (5) commnity partnerships; (6) data and privacy; (7) use of space and time; (8) collaborative leadership.

     

    • The Washington Township Public Schools ranked 10th by the New Jersey Department of Education among the top 100 schools with the most effective teachers.

     

    • Washington Township School District was Named to the 8th Annual AP Honor Roll, one of 447 school districts in the United States and Canada named to the College Board's  Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll. The award is presented each year to districts that are able to expand access to AP courses to a more diverse group of learned while simultaneously improving performance.  The honor is the fourth for the District, which also was honored in 2012, 2016 and 2017.

     

    • Eight Washington Township High School Science League students combined for a fourth place showing among 51 New Jersey teams at the regional T.E.A.M.S. (Test of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science) competition at Widener University and qualified for the national competition in Atlanta, Ga.

     

    • Washington Township High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) officers – Lieutenant Colonel Beth Ann Lumpkin, Master Sergeant Jeff Hood and Master Sergeant Richard Harris - were named as recipients of the 2018 New Jersey Educator of the Year Team Award by the American Legion, Department of New Jersey. The trio from the NJ-932nd division were  honored at the American Legion’s 100th Annual State Convention in Wildwood, N.J.

     

    • The Washington Township Board of Education received the Carole Lawson Master Board award at the Gloucester/Camden County School Board Association Meeting as the only board in the two counties to receive this recognition. The team award requires the participation of seven out of nine board members to meet all criteria. It was the first time in school history that the Washington Township BOE received Master Board distinction.
