• 2016-2017 Points of Pride

    • The Washington Township School District has implemented a full-day kindergarten program at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and Whitman Elementary School.  Providing a quality, full-day kindergarten can produce long-term educational gains, including improving reading and math achievement. It offers social, emotional and intellectual benefits to all kindergarteners, giving them more time to focus and reflect on activities and transition between them.
    • Washington Township School District was Named to the 7th Annual AP Honor Roll, one of 433 school districts in the United States and Canada named to the College Board's  Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll. The award is presented each year to districts that are able to expand access to AP courses to a more diverse group of learned while simultaneously improving performance.  The honor is the third for the District, which also was honored in 2012 and 2016.

    • The Gloucester County Special Services School District honored Bunker Hill Middle School Spanish Teacher Frank Cabrera at its January 18 board meeting with the 2017 Special Projects Employee Recognition Award. GCSSSD Special Projects runs its district’s Migrant Education Program every summer, and Cabrera is a major cog in that operation. He teaches the children of migrant workers at GCSSSD’s summer school, and also travels to local farms as part of the “English on the Farms” program, teaching English to students ages 3 to 21. 

    • Every one of the approximately 2,300 students attending Washington Township High School in the 2016-17 school year will do so with a Dell 3340 or Dell 3350 laptop computer and a protective laptop case in their hand. Additionally, all 209 WTHS teachers will be outfitted with new Dell 7275 2-in-1 laptops. The technology upgrade brings a long-desired one-to-one technology to fruition. Under the new initiative, a student will retain his/her laptop that will be pre-loaded with coursework software, until he or she graduates from high school.

    • Washington Township School District was Named Among 527 School Districts Nationwide as the 2017 Best Communities for Music Education. The distinction from the National Association of Music Merchants' NAMM Foundation recognized WTPS as one of four percent of districts across the nation, one of 37 in New jersey and one of three in Gloucester County demonstrating outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
    • Washington Township School District was Named Among 527 School Districts Nationwide as the 2017 Best Communities for Music Education. 

    • Wedgwood Elementary School basic skills math teacher Domenick Renzi was named the 2016-17 Gloucester County Teacher of the Year.

    • WTPS Earned a "District of Distinction" Award from the editors of District Administration magazine for its Middle School Parent Cyber Program.
